چکیده

Several studies provide compelling support for the use of MRI as a sensitive non-invasive method to assess skeletal muscle disease progression in various neuromuscular diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy1,2 and limb girdle muscular dystrophy type 2I.3 In The Lancet Neurology, Jasper Morrow and colleagues4 now report the sensitivity of MRI to track disease progression in 20 patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 1A and 20 patients with inclusion body myositis.

Brachial plexus magnetic resonance imaging differentiates between inflammatory neuropathies and does not predict disease course

OBJECTIVE The main objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the distribution of brachial plexus magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) abnormalities and clinical weakness, and to evaluate the value of brachial plexus MRI in predicting disease course and response to treatment in multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN), Lewis-Sumner syndrome (LSS) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating...

Quantitative Muscle MRI as an Assessment Tool for Monitoring Disease Progression in LGMD2I: A Multicentre Longitudinal Study

BACKGROUND Outcome measures for clinical trials in neuromuscular diseases are typically based on physical assessments which are dependent on patient effort, combine the effort of different muscle groups, and may not be sensitive to progression over short trial periods in slow-progressing diseases. We hypothesised that quantitative fat imaging by MRI (Dixon technique) could provide more discrimi...

تصویربرداری با MRI تا چه حد می‌تواند پاسخ به درمان کمورادیاسیون نئوادجونت را در تومورهای موضعی پیشرفته رکتوم پیش‌گویی کند؟

Background: This study investigated compatibility between post chemoradiation magnetic resonance images and histologic findings after operation and chemoradiation in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Methods: In this prospective study, 63 patients referred to Cancer Institute of Emam Khomeini Hospital, Tehran, Iran, from October 2011 to October 2013 with locally advanced rectal c...

Apolipoprotein E and neuromuscular disease: a critical review of the literature.

Molecular mechanisms that alter the incidence and rate of neuromuscular disease progression are, in many cases, only partially understood. Several recent studies have asked whether apolipoprotein E (apoE for the protein, APOE for the gene) influences these aspects of specific neuromuscular disorders, as it does in central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer disease. Although these studie...

مقایسه Diffusion-MRI با MRI متداول در کشف ضایعات داخل مغزی مولتیپل اسکلروزیس

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease that begins most commonly in young adults and is characterized pathologically by multiple areas of central nervous system (CNS) white matter inflammation, demyelination, and glial scarring. The most valuable aid for diagnosis is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). New type of MRI has been developed on the basis of molecular diffusion which ...
